Bob & Kathy Hubbard, founders of Hubbard Family Swim School (HFSS), have 8 children and 20 grandchildren. Bob grew up in New York and developed his passion for swimming while working as an ocean lifeguard. Kathy developed her passion for swimming in a competitive environment.
Kathy graduated from Xavier University with a degree in English in 1972. She qualified for the 1968 Olympic Trials and swam competitively through college. In 1988, she was the first woman inducted into Xavier University’s Athletic Hall of Fame. She served as chairman of the US Swim School Association (USSSA) Infant Toddler Committee for 10 years.
Bob earned his undergraduate degree from Xavier University in psychology in 1973 and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1976. He has had a varied career as a lawyer and worked as an executive in a variety of industries including homebuilding, life insurance and hotels.
The 90’s found Bob and Kathy in Phoenix, running Swim Programs and Summer Sports Camp at Phoenix Swim Club. In 1998, they founded the first indoor Hubbard Family Swim School and Hubbard Summer Sports Camps.
Bob has been involved with the United States Swim School Association (“USSSA”) since 1998, as a board member and also serving as its’ vice president and president. He is a presenter of the USSSA Infant Toddler Instructor course. He is a founding member of the Central Drowning Prevention Coalition of AZ and Swim For Life. He is also a founding Patron of the International Swim School Association.
Bob and Kathy love to travel, learn and to share their thoughts about the swim school industry with friends around the world.
They are honored to have been chosen as Keynote Speakers at the Australian Swim Coaches & Teachers Assn. three times and have addressed the World Aquatic Baby Conference, in Malmo, Sweden & Wellington, New Zealand, the Birthlight Conference in Cambridge, England, the US Gymnastics Association Annual Conference, International Swim School Association and are regular presenters at the USSSA conferences.
Bob is an engaging speaker who brings his unique backgrounds, creative ideas and energetic presence to each presentation.
